W.D. Farr

William Daven Farr, 97, of Greeley, passed away Monday, August 13, 2007 at his residence, which he built in 1937.  He was born in Greeley, Colorado on May 26, 1910. Farr, a third generation Coloradan, pioneer rancher, statesman and banker is known for his extraordinary vision.  His dedication to improving agriculture, livestock and water development has resulted in significant changes in farming methods that have influenced the practices of ranchers and farmers throughout the nation. Read more...

Fred H. Johnson

Fred H. Johnson Jr., 91, passed away on Sept. 6, 2007, at his home in Summitville, Ohio, from complications of cancer. He was surrounded by his wife and family. Born in Clearfield, Penn., on March 26, 1916, the son of Frederick and Ethel Johnson, he moved to Summitville, Ohio, with his parents in 1921 and resided there for most of his life. In 2007, the National Cattlemen’s Foundation presented Mr. Johnson recieved the National Beef Industry Vision Award in honor of his outstanding leadership and service to the beef industry.  Read more...

Paul Hitch

Paul Henry Hitch, 64, died Friday, March 14th, 2008, in Amarillo, Texas.  Paul Hitch was born May, 25, 1943, in Liberal, Kan., to Annie Laurie Lala Moores and Henry Charles Ladd Hitch Jr. He attended school in Guymon until high school at which time he transferred to Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo., for his final two years, graduating in 1961. Upon graduation, Paul attended Oklahoma State University where he completed his degree in animal science within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. After completing his undergraduate degree in 1965, he moved to Palo Alto, Calif., to complete a Masters in Business Administration at Stanford University.  Read more...

Lynn Cornwell

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and the entire U.S. cattle industry lost a great leader on June 5, with the passing of Ward “Lynn” Cornwell, 56, of Glasgow, Montana. Lynn served as NCBA president in 2001.

Lynn served for many years on the NCBA Board of Directors, chairing several committees before serving his term as NCBA president. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Montana Stock Growers Association from 1988 to 1992, and then as MSGA President from 1996 to 1998.  Read more...
